Title: DATA ANALYST

We are building THE data science-driven engine to help clients manage risk related to health care and insurance - empowering them to make optimal decisions to control costs and improve quality of care for their members. Under the Direction of the Team Leader/Manager or designee, the Data Analyst is responsible for designing, analyzing, synthesizing and developing large data files. The Data Analyst manages projects and works within an interdisciplinary team focused on excellent customer experience. This is a full time, salaried position, with salary commensurate with education, experience, and contribution.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning, delivering, and presenting Business Intelligence implementation projects in the healthcare/health insurance arena
Develop, support, and refine new data pipelines, data models, analyses, and insights to BST clients using ETL tools
Develop data implementation jobs and transformations for data preparation and storage in AWS Redshift or alternate to prepare for machine learning
Prototype, develop, and test data cleansing processes to support client implementations and other client needs
Collect and manage the conversion of raw data files to processed output files through BST’s ETL software
Implement and validate solutions in distributed environments
Work with design, analyzation, synthesization, and development of large data files using MS Excel, SQL, and other analytical tools
Collaborate with colleagues from engineering and business backgrounds; generally working as part of a team rather than in a supervisory role
Manage projects including planning, strategizing, controlling quality, scheduling, and communicating with vendors and clients
Must pass initial and periodic background checks, and comply with all applicable HIPAA and Security regulations, including maintaining HIPAA Awareness Certification
Must be available and able to work during standard business hours in the Benefits Science office in Needham, MA, as well as at other times as needed for communication and coordination with our international teams
Qualifications:
BS in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related field
Minimum 1 year ETL experience, with Pentaho experience strongly preferred
Proficient in mathematics as well as MS Excel, SQL, and/or other database/analytical tools
Experience working with large data files
Experience in the design and development of databases (experience working with healthcare or health insurance-related data is strongly preferred)
Must be able to follow project all the way through to completion paying particular attention to quality and timeliness (experience managing projects strongly preferred)
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
