Under the Direction of the Data Management Lead, the Data Validation Specialist is responsible for supporting the Data Analysts of Benefits Science Technologies’ client accounts. The Data Validation Specialist helps ensure follow-through and coordination, ensuring high standards and great communication so that our clients receive excellent customer experience. This is a full time, salaried position, with salary commensurate with education, experience, and contribution.

Duties & Responsibilities:

● Provides data validation support services for current and new BST clients of medium to high complexity (determined by size of account and/or nature of business)

● Responsible for verification of receipt and secure storage of all data prior to client onboarding and during the implementation cycle

● Demonstrates a working knowledge of BST technology, procedures, and practices, and provides coordination and support in the servicing of assigned accounts as well as others when needed

● Becomes a relationship coordinator, acting as an important point of contact between Insurance Carriers/TPA’s and BST, and always working to strengthen the relationships between them

● Provides quality control for our Data Analysts

● Collaborates with colleagues from insurance, engineering and business backgrounds; generally working as part of a team rather than in a supervisory role

● Work with design, analyzation, synthesization, and development of large data files using MS Excel, SQL, and other analytical tools

● Responsible for selecting the appropriate data requirements and computational methods, gathering data, completing validation and testing of data analysis models, and presenting results

● Develop relationships with Data Vendors by collaborating on new data storage and delivery technologies as well as processes - focus on standardization and reduction of complexity

● Passes initial and periodic background checks, and complies with all applicable HIPAA and Security regulations, including maintaining HIPAA Awareness Certification

● Must be available and able to work during standard business hours in the Benefits Science office in Boston, MA, as well as at other times as needed for communication and coordination with our international teams


● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

● Minimum 1 year experience designing, analyzing, synthesizing, and developing large data files using MS Excel, SQL, or equivalent analytical tools

● Must be proficient in mathematics and able to follow projects all the way through to completion paying particular attention to quality and timeliness

● Experience supporting virtualization environments such as tableau

● Training or experience with design and implementation of storage and data protection hardware and software platforms such as Amazon AWS

● Experience providing solutions for data and application workload migrations preferred

● Health insurance experience strongly preferred, preferably in the self insured plan arena

● Customer service, Salesforce, and Jira experience strongly preferred

● Must have high energy and a positive attitude, and must be able to follow through on instructions and assignments

● Must present a neat, clean, appropriate appearance

● Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent listening, negotiating, mediating and conflict deescalating skills

● Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
