PRODUCT MANAGER

Benefits Science Technologies is a data science and technology firm founded out of MIT and innovating at the intersection of analytics, healthcare, and software development. We are building THE data science-driven engine to help clients manage risk related to healthcare and insurance - empowering them to make optimal decisions to control costs and improve quality of care for their members. Our passion is finding unique answers to complex questions and continually redefining the leading edge. Under the Direction of the Chief Strategy Officer or designee, the Product Manager is responsible for product planning and marketing, including managing the product throughout its lifecycle. This includes gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining product vision, and working closely with development and engineering to deliver stellar products. This is a full time, salaried position, with salary commensurate with education, experience, and contribution. What we’re looking for: A highly motivated and adaptable product manager with a track record of successfully driving software development and workflow improvement to solve complex business problems in the healthcare industry. Collaborative and transparent team leader with proven ability to strategize and prioritize initiatives, delivering impactful solutions to clients ranging from large health insurance companies to small healthcare providers. Analytical and creative thinker that can learn new technical topics quickly, build trust and rapport with engineers, and translate complicated concepts to non-technical audiences. Must be comfortable building collaborative relationships with engineering, DevOps, Compliance/Security, sales, and account management teams.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to understand our health insurance clients’ needs and create customizable solutions to improve their member population health and financial outcomes.

  • Define the product strategy and develop product roadmaps (internal and external)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional product development teams by producing clear, comprehensive user requirements (design inputs).

  • Develop internal training curriculum to ensure successful launch of new features and functionality (e.g. dashboards, automated workflows, auth requests).

  • Schedule and manage release cycles and product launches in a SAAS environment while coordinating marketing requirements.

  • Conduct market and competitor research for current and future products to develop user stories, technical specifications, and product descriptions.

  • Track and document progress and goals across all products.

  • Conceive and analyze multiple alternatives to improve outcomes.

  • Must pass initial and periodic background checks, and comply with all applicable HIPAA and Security regulations, including maintaining HIPAA Awareness Certification.

  • Must be available and able to work during standard business hours in the Benefits Science office in Needham, MA, as well as at other times as needed for communication and coordination. This position may be temporarily remote due to COVID.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (MS or MBA strongly preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Software or Web Product Manager, with a proven track record of delivering multiple successful technical data driven products or services, following lean methodologies, and driving adoption and growth.

  • Experience working with health insurance products and data strongly preferred.

  • Experience building cloud-based solutions.

  • Exceptional product management skills, including strong business judgement, problem solving, communication, and demonstrated leadership experience influencing cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.

  • Must be a proactive self-starter with take ownership/roll up the sleeves attitude regarding getting the work done. This cannot be emphasized enough.

  • Must have proven ability to execute strategically and tactically.

  • Must be analytical, detail oriented, and creative, bringing up innovative ideas for solutions while making decisions based on data analysis and facts.

  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.

  • Preferred: Experience supporting virtualization environments including Tableau, as well as experience working with AWS and Jira.

  • Preferred: Familiarity with Agile methodologies including Scrum or Kanban.

  • Must demonstrate a keen interest in keeping abreast of technological advances and proven success at incorporating new technology into existing systems.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
