Summary of position:
Benefits Science Technologies is a data science and technology firm founded out of MIT and innovating at the intersection of analytics, healthcare, and software development. We are building THE data science-driven engine to help clients manage risk related to healthcare and insurance - empowering them to make optimal decisions to control costs and improve quality of care for their members. Our passion is finding unique answers to complex questions and continually redefining the leading edge. Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer or designee, the System Administrator maintains, upgrades, and manages our software, hardware and networks so our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently. Resourcefulness, patience, and diagnostic and communication skills are vital for this role. This is a full time, salaried position with salary commensurate with education, experience, and contribution.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Install and configure software and hardware.
Manage network servers and technology tools.
Set up accounts and workstations, including delivering and receiving BST laptops.
Maintain BST Asset Log.
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
Troubleshoot issues and outages.
Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls.
Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies.
Must pass initial and periodic background checks, and comply with all applicable HIPAA and Security regulations, including maintaining HIPAA Awareness Certification.
Must be available and able to work during standard business hours in the Benefits Science office in Needham, MA, as well as at other times as needed. Work may be fully or partially remote temporarily due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minimum BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus. Acceptable experience may be accepted in lieu of completed degree.
Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role.
Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management.
Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language.
Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude, with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. .
Excellent communication skills.
Healthcare Insurance Domain experience strongly preferred.
Fluent in English (both verbal and written)
