Benefits Science Technologies is a data science and technology firm founded out of MIT and innovating at the intersection of analytics, healthcare and software development. We are building THE data science-driven engine to help clients manage risk related to health care and insurance - empowering them to make optimal decisions to control costs and improve quality of care for their members. The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading, organizing, and motivating teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality in the execution and delivery of valuable solutions for assigned teams. This highly collaborative role will need to work closely with all departments, including account management, onboarding, implementation, visualization, data management, and more in order to deliver quality solutions to our customers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the successful delivery of projects to plan, timeline, budget and agreed quality and governance standards. The role typically requires managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
Manage project teams engaged throughout the full delivery lifecycle. Delivery of projects supporting the business strategy from business case through to initiation, requirement analysis, design, build, testing, implementation and closure
Provide production and technical knowledge and support in addition to innovation insight in order to arrive at the best-possible execution decisions.
Demonstrate skilled problem-solving capabilities to determine solutions and options to resolve problems.
Provide accountability on the execution of the development and implementation processes for assigned teams
Identify, procure and manage outside vendors and consultants that are best suited for assigned projects, when required
Guide the team and organization on specific processes and best practices for a successful project management environment
Facilitate and optimize methods for team discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution as requested or needed
Builds a safe and trusting environment for the team
Foster a culture of accountability with teams and all stakeholders
Provide coaching and mentoring to improve effectiveness as needed
Monitor risks and partner with stakeholders to develop support and contingency plans as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required
7+ years of experience in management of technical projects, including at least 4 years of professional experience with Enterprise Project Management software
Experience facilitating Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams to deliver technology solutions on time, on budget, and to spec - Project Management and Agile certifications are preferred
Core project management skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple or large projects in a cross-functional environment.
Excellent group facilitation skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team to apply skills and techniques to solve dynamic problems, achieve project vision and successfully complete project deliverables
Proven leadership, human resource, relationship and change management skills with the ability to constructively manage conflicts and problems
Possess excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as the ability to present and explain information, both business and technical, in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and provides clarity.
Minimal support required even in areas where new process or governance needs to be established
Experience and expertise in at least two platforms/languages/technical tools such as Jira, SQL, Python, YAML, AWS, or MS Excel required
Shown ability to deliver complex software features iteratively and reliably, and to drive continuous improvement of the delivery team
Possess a high degree of technical savvy, with a keen ability to learn new technology quickly and easily, including cloud environments
Must pass initial and periodic background checks, and comply with all applicable HIPAA and Security regulations, including maintaining HIPAA Awareness certification
Must be available and able to work during standard business hours in the Benefits Science office in Needham, MA, as well as other times as needed
Occasional travel may be required
